Sebaceous Hyperplasia: An Approach to Reduce Recurrence
Removing only the visible parts may leave the underlying cause untreated.
Sebaceous hyperplasia is a skin lesion caused by sebaceous glands in the dermis layer abnormally enlarging or proliferating.
Typically, many procedures use lasers to remove only the visible lesions.
While this approach may seem to improve the lesions immediately,
if the sebaceous glands themselves remain, there is a possibility of the lesions reappearing.
We approach this by considering these points.
We aim to reduce the likelihood of recurrence by removing visible lesions and simultaneously addressing the underlying internal cause.
Beyond simply improving the outwardly visible symptoms,
we aim for treatment that manages both the cause and the symptoms simultaneously.
To achieve this, we use two types of equipment in combination.
1. Secret Agnes RF (Insulated 1-pin High-Frequency Needle)
An insulated 1-pin needle is inserted into the area with sebaceous glands to directly deliver high-frequency thermal energy.
This aims to selectively coagulate and destroy abnormally enlarged sebaceous glands.
By using an insulated needle, damage to the epidermis or surrounding tissues is minimized,
allowing for precise treatment targeting only the sebaceous glands.
This is a crucial part of addressing the root cause of sebaceous hyperplasia.
2. Erbium-YAG Laser (Er:YAG Laser)
This laser allows for precise depth control,
and is used to delicately refine and remove protruding lesion areas.
It is known to cause less tissue damage, reducing the burden of recovery time and lowering the possibility of scarring.
Sometimes, it can be combined with a CO2 laser to effectively remove deeper lesions as needed.
Our approach differs from simple lesion removal procedures.
CO2 laser-only treatment removes the surface, but the sebaceous glands themselves remain, leading to a possibility of recurrence.
Our combined treatment can help inhibit recurrence by selectively coagulating and destroying sebaceous glands and refining surface lesions.
Major Characteristics of Sebaceous Hyperplasia
Understanding Sebaceous Hyperplasia
Simply removing only the surface may not be sufficient.
Addressing both the outwardly visible symptoms and the underlying internal cause can help reduce the likelihood of recurrence.
Are you experiencing the following symptoms?
Small, round, bumpy growths appearing on the forehead, cheeks, and around the nose
A shape with a slightly indented center, resembling a belly button
May look like acne or pimples, but no contents are expelled when pressed.
They do not disappear over time and remain as they are, or tend to gradually increase in number.
These phenomena are not just simple skin blemishes,
but suggest the possibility of *sebaceous hyperplasia*, a condition where sebaceous glands have abnormally proliferated.

Q&A
고객님들이 가장 많이 물어보시는 내용을 모았습니다.
Why is it recommended to perform Agnes treatment together?
In cases of syringoma or sebaceous gland hyperplasia, the Agnes laser targets the sebaceous glands that are the root cause of the lesion, which can help reduce concerns about recurrence when combined with other procedures.
What is the recovery period after the procedure?
Management may require attaching a regenerative tape (e.g., Duoderm) to the treated area for approximately 2 weeks or more.
What level of pain can be expected during the procedure?
The degree of pain may vary depending on the individual. We strive to reduce discomfort by applying anesthetic cream before the procedure.
Cautions
Results = Treatment × Aftercare. Please follow the notes below.
It is recommended to avoid alcohol, smoking, using saunas, and strenuous exercise for about one week after the procedure.
To prevent hyperpigmentation in the treated area, minimize sun exposure and regularly use sunscreen.
It is advisable to avoid washing your face as much as possible on the day of the procedure.
